The national law firm of Parker Waichman LLP, advocates for victims of nursing home abuse and negligence, has filed a lawsuit on behalf of the estate of a Queens, NY woman who died allegedly due to the negligence of the nursing home where she was a resident. The lawsuit was filed in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Queens County and names the Margaret Tietz Center for Nursing Care, Inc., and the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as defendants.
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was a resident of the nursing home from December 2010 to March 2011 and because of the negligence of the staff, she suffered numerous injuries including bedsores, skin breakdown, infection, malnutrition, and dehydration. The lawsuit alleges the plaintiff suffered these injuries up until the time of her death.
The lawsuit claims that because of these injuries, the plaintiff was forced to undergo medical treatment, and incurred medical expenses. She also suffered disability, pain and suffering, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of the enjoyment of life and loss of dignity, and then death.
The suit alleges the defendants violated the plaintiff’s rights under the Public Health Law, and charges the defendants with negligence, gross negligence, and wrongful death, and seeks punitive damages and fees.
