U-Haul Slams into Teenage Boy in the Bronx

A U-Haul truck hit a 17-year-old boy on Friday morning in the Bronx in New York City on Friday morning, seriously injuring him.

Amary Milan was on his way to Samuel Gompers High School on Friday morning when he was struck by a U-Haul driven by Efram Rodriguez, 36, at around 8:38 a.m. in the Longwood section of the Bronx. Witnesses told CBS New York that Milan was walking in the crosswalk trying to cross Southern Boulevard when the U-Haul truck ran a yellow light and struck him. Milan was thrown more than 10 feet and seriously injured.

“When he went to go cross, that truck right there, it was going too fast. Right when the kid went to go look at the truck — boom! The kid just flew,” witness Christine Bonaparte told CBS New York’s Meg Baker. “When I came over here to see what happened, the kid was thrown on the floor, he was all full of blood and everything. It was a tragedy.”

The truck then struck a sedan, causing both vehicles to jump the curb, and sending the sedan crashing into the Guadalajara Beauty Salon, at 907 Southern Boulevard. No one inside the salon was hurt.

Police told CBS New York that Rodriguez had hit another parked car earlier in the day on Bruckner Boulevard and kept going. Rodriguez, who was driving on a suspended license, was arrested following the accident. Milan was taken to Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, where he underwent surgery on Friday afternoon, according to CBS New York. disclaimer: This article: U-Haul Slams into Teenage Boy in the Bronx, Critically Injuring him was posted on Monday, March 16th, 2015 at 7:46 pm at and is filed under Accident Lawsuits, Personal Injury Lawsuits.
