Mary and Paul French of Havertown Pennsylvania plan to file a nursing home abuse lawsuit against Sunrise Senior Living Inc., an upscale Quadrangle nursing home. Three of the staff were arrested  after the abuse of Mary’s mother, Lois McCallister, aged 78,  was caught on tape.  State official have revoked the facility’s license, however an appeal has been filed. The nursing home is still operating.

The CEO of Sunrise Senior Living Inc., Marc Ordan said “We had three rogue employees. We were shocked. We were angry that people would do something like that. We have we have been 1000 percent cooperative with the authorities.”

Sunrise is required to report all abuse complaints to the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare, but the French’s day they didn’t, and that Sunrise ignored their initial abuse claims, dismissing them “dismissing them as a manifestation of McCallister’s Alzheimer’s Disease”.

The tape showed the abusive actions. “We are furious,” said Paul French, “at watching someone you love being beaten and being abused.”

“She is not the type to fight back,” said Mary French. “If you look at the tape she was just trying to get away.”
