UPI has reported that two attorneys are preparing civil lawsuits for the alleged victims of sexual assault by Jerry Sandusky, the former assistant football coach at Penn State. One of the lawyers said he expects more victims to come forward once they realize they are “not alone.” A second attorney has told the Daily Beast he is representing a second victim.

The Pennsylvania state police have set up a phone line for victims, and have said that they have been inundated with phone calls with tips about the case. Meanwhile, the new President of Penn State, Rodney Erickson has pledged commitment by the university to the victims, and to increasing child sexual abuse awareness. “We understand there will be lawsuits filed. We’re prepared to do the right thing for all the victims,” he said on “Good Morning America.”

“We will do everything we can do. … We’re going to engage in a wide range of programming that will raise the issue of child sex abuse, to make this a national issue.”

Jerry Sandusky is facing 40 charges of abusing at least eight boys over the course of 15 years. He met each of his victims through a non-profit charity he founded called The Second Mile.
