A lawsuit, originally filed by News Corp shareholders over the nepotistic purchase of Shine Group Ltd, has been amended to include the questionable news gatherin practices that shuttered News of the World.

The amended lawsuit, dated July 8, 2011, was filed in Delaware Chancery Court by the plaintiffs, who include “a trustee for several investment funds, and union and pension funds led by the New Orleans Employees’ Retirement System and the Central Laborers Pension Fund,” Reuters reported.

The lawsuit seeks damages to be paid to News Corp for breaching fiduciary duties.

News Corp is currently being investigated by the FBI in an effort to determine whether the company attempted to hack into the telephones of the victims and their families of September 11, 2001 attacks.

News Corp’s News of the World newspaper was shut down after 168 years of service after it was discovered that the paper had ordered the cell phone hacking of British individuals, including crime victims, politicians and celebrities, the LA Times reported.
