The national law firm of Parker Waichman LLP has filed a nursing home negligence lawsuit in the Supreme Court of the State of New York in Nassau County on behalf of a plaintiff who was injured while residing at Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Long Beach, New York.
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was a resident of the nursing home from August 21, 2008 to August 22, 2010. On March 24, 2010, May 3, 2010, and August 22, 2010 the plaintiff suffered falls which allegedly resulted in severe and permanent personal injuries.
The complaint says that the plaintiff also suffered other injuries caused by negligence, including dehydration and permanent disfigurement. Because of these injuries, the plaintiff had to undergo medical treatment and suffered disfigurement, disability, pain, suffering, mental anguish, loss of dignity, and loss of enjoyment of life.
According to Parker Waichman LLP, the lawsuit charges Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with violations of the New York Public Health Law, negligence, and gross negligence, and seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, as well as attorney fees and costs.
