The national law firm of Parker Waichman LLP has filed a nursing home abuse lawsuit in the Supreme Court of the State of New York against Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation and Winthrop-University Hospital, on behalf of the estate of a Nassau County woman who allegedly died from nursing home negligence.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was a resident of the nursing home from January 26, 2011 to March 9, 2011, where she developed numerous infections, skin breakdown, malnutrition, dehydration, decubitus ulcers, as well as other injuries, allegedly caused by the negligence of the nursing home.

Further, the lawsuit states that from January 20, 2011 until her death on May 4, 2011, the plaintiff was admitted numerous times to Winthrop-University Hospital, and during these stays, the hospital “failed to render her proper and adequate care and treatment to prevent the worsening of her skin breakdown.”

The lawsuit accuses the defendants of negligence and gross negligence, and wrongful death. The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, and attorney fees and costs.
