Four motorists were injured in separate car accidents in Brooklyn, New York, on December 29, including a man who was severely burned when his car caught fire.

The 30-year-old driver of a Honda sedan smashed into an Infiniti at the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Quentin Road in Sheepshead Bay around 7:06 p.m., sending the car careening into a light pole. The 37-year-old driver of the Infiniti escaped from his car just as it caught fire, but suffered severe burns, police told the New York Daily News (Daily News). He was rushed to Staten Island University Medical Center where he is in grave condition.

“I heard a loud bang and when I looked, the guy got out of the car and he was in flames … He was walking like a zombie, full of flames. He was in shock,” Anne-Marie Haak, who lives on the block, described to the Daily News. “People were screaming, ‘Stop, drop and roll! Stop, drop and roll!'”

The other driver was taken to Lutheran Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition. The accident scene was inspected by the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) Collision Investigation Squad, according to the Daily News.

Two people were taken to hospital following an accident involving a white BMW and another car on Coney Island Avenue near Avenue O around 10 p.m. the same night. Both individuals were listed in stable condition, the Daily News reported. disclaimer: This article: Motorist Critically Injured After Car Accident Ignites his Vehicle was posted on Monday, January 5th, 2015 at 3:15 pm at and is filed under Accident Lawsuits.
