Monongalia County Circuit Judge Susan Tucker issued an order five days before the scheduled hearing regarding the ban on natural gas hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, in Morgantown West Virginia, overturning the ban.

Plaintiffs Northeast Natural Energy and Enrout Properties LLC are pleased with the decision. “We appreciate Judge Tucker’s thoughtful and detailed analysis of this issue,” Northeast President Michael John said. “Obviously, we are pleased with the ruling and we intend to continue to work in good faith with the Morgantown Utility Board, the city of Morgantown and other stakeholders in Monongalia County. We are sensitive to the community’s concerns and we are committed to operating in a safe and environmentally friendly manner,” the Charleston Daily Mail reported.

City Manager Terrence Moore is discussing the ruling with a city attorney to develop a response, though they are not elaborating on whether or not they plan to appeal. disclaimer: This article: Morgantown WV Fracking Ban Overturned was posted on Tuesday, August 16th, 2011 at 7:54 pm at and is filed under Toxic Substances Lawsuits.
