More than 80 pending lawsuits involving thousands of former NFL players have been consolidated into a single lawsuit. The consolidated cases will be brought before U.S. District Judge Anita Brody, NFL.com reports.

The AP reported that the lawsuits involve 3,356 plaintiffs including relatives, players and their spouses. The lawsuits all accuse the NFL of concealing information regarding head injuries and permanent neurological problems.

Among the plaintiffs is Mary Ann Easterling, the widow of Roy Easterling, a former Atlanta Falcons safety. Her lawsuit was filed about two months after Roy, 62, shot himself at their home in Richmond, VA.

The consolidated lawsuit alleges that “Despite its knowledge and controlling role in governing player conduct on and off the field, the NFL turned a blind eye to the risk and failed to warn and/or impose safety regulations governing this well-recognized health and safety problem.”

The NFL has consistantly denied the allegations brought in the lawsuits and said in a statement, “Any allegation that the NFL sought to mislead players has no merit. It stands in contrast to the league’s many actions to better protect players and advance the science and medical understanding of the management and treatment of concussions.”
