At least three lawsuits have been filed on behalf of people injured in an August 2 Megabus crash in Illinois.
Passengers Lewis Vaughn IV and Jamie Schultz have filed lawsuits, and Mary Jane Klein has also filed suit on behalf of herself and her two sons, who were also passengers on the bus.
According to media sources, the double-decker Megabus was traveling on Interstate 55 near Litchfield, Illinois when authorities say a tire blew, and the bus crashed into the pillar of an overpass bridge. One person died in the crash, while numerous others were injured. At least one of the lawsuits names the driver of the bus and Megabus USA as defendants.
Megabus has not commented on the lawsuits, but it wrote on its website, Megabus.com that it is “deeply saddened by the incident,” the Associated Press reports.
