The lawsuit that Boris and Mary Schmondiuk of Wall, Pennsylvania filed in 2009 against gas-drilling company Huntley & Huntly Inc., alleging the company damaged private property without permission, will go to trial in November, WTAE News reported.

According to the lawsuit, the drilling company cut a trail through Schmondiuk’s property in order to reach a gas drilling site on the neighbor’s property. The company cut down more than 20 old-growth hardwood trees, valued at over $6,000. Boris Schmondiuk said the sentimental value of the land is worth far more than the monetary value of the trees.

“That’s where I hunt, where I go to find peace. It’s where I played as a child,” he said. “Now, it’s all gone.”
