The Illinois Department of Labor is seeking over $19,000 in back wages and penalties from Landmark Hospitality Group LLC, which operates the Ramada Inn & Suites. Also named in the lawsuit are Davang Patel, Nadir Hussein, and Patrick Baker.

According to the lawsuit, Samuel Sympson is owed $2,437.85 in wages and $2,925.42 in damages and penalties for 15 months of wages he was not paid. And Tim Carroll is owed $2,011.39 in wages and $2,413.67 in damages and penalties for work he performed over nine months, the Pantagraph reported.

Landmark said the two employees were salaried workers and therefore exempt from the wage claims.

Landmark is also facing a federal lawsuit filed in December by Sympson and two other employees, who are all seeking back wages from the hotel company.
