Freedom of Information Lawsuit Filed Over Prius Unexplained Acceleration

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

The auto safety firm of Safety Research and Strategies has filed a freedom of information lawsuit against the U.S. government in an effort to gain access to investigation records regarding the acceleration problems of the Toyota Prius last year.

Safety Research and Strategies is concerned that government regulators are dismissing what may be electronic problems with the vehicles, and is withholding videos and documentation that possibly shows the acceleration issue is an electronic malfunction, and not the blame of floor mats and pedals for which Toyota issued a recall.

The lawsuit specifically seeks information gathered when two federal investigators investigated the sudden acceleration of a Prius owned and driven by a government official and includes records, photographs, and transcripts.
