Christine Lyons has filed a lawsuit in Boston federal court against Providence-based Citizens Financial Group and seeks class action status for claims that even though she was an assistant branch manager, she should be paid overtime.

According to the lawsuit, Lyons worked at an assistant branch manager on the South Shore in Boston from August 2007 to March 2011. Lyons claims that her primary responsibilities were similar to hourly employees, and that she didn’t do much managing. Lyons did not hire or fire employees, nor did she make suggestions regarding hiring or firing. The lawsuit also says that Lyons did not make any financial decisions about the branches financial budget.

Lyons claims she often worked 50 to 60 hours a week, and never received any overtime. The lawsuit alleges that assistant branch managers throughout the branch network typically work more than 40 hours per week and do not receive overtime for that work.

Through the lawsuit, Lyons is seeking class action status on behalf of more than 200 people who have worked throughout the branch network since March 2008.
