Family Files Lawsuit Over Elder Abuse Against PA Quadrangle

Mary and Paul French and their attorneys held a press conference Wednesday to inform the media that they had filed a lawsuit earlier that day against the Quadrangle, a Haverford PA senior living center, and its owners, Sunrise Senior Living, alleging the nursing home covered-up the abuse of Lois McCallister, who suffers severe dementia.

McCallister was moved from the Quadrangle after a hidden camera placed by her son-in-law Paul French captured abuse from three staff members, Samirah Traynham, 22, Tyrina Griffin, 21, and Ayesha Muhammad, 19. The abuse included the three staffers forcing McCallister to go topless and mocked in abused her in one incident on March 31, 2011.

The three have been charged with assault and related charges, the Haverford Patch reported.

McCallister nows lives with Mary and Paul French, who have installed a handicap bathroom and a room for McCallister on the first floor of their home. During the press conference Mary said that it was hard for them to trust elder care workers after what happened to her mother, but she realizes that “At some point we will have to trust someone,” she said to Patch.
