Amanda Tibble, a former CNA at the John M. Reed Nursing Home in Limestone, Tennessee has pleaded guilty to four counts of willful abuse and neglect of an adult, although she admitted guilt to only the charge of mental abuse. She accepted the guilty pleas for two counts of physical abuse against two male residents of the nursing home.

She was accused of twisting one man’s hand, and bending back the hand of another resident. The daughter of a mental abused resident said that she was glad her mom was able to receive some justice by Tibble’s sentencing. “(Tibble) was real cruel to mother about the words she used and made my mother break down and cry,” Marcie Hall said. “Hopefully, it got a message out to some people that they can’t do this and just totally get away with it.”

Tibble is facing 15 months of jail time though she may be required to serve only five months of the term. Judge Robert Cupp will officially sentence Tibble on October 25. “I want to push for tougher laws for abuse against the elderly. From what it was explained to me, this is the same (sentence) as writing a bad check,” TriCities.com reported Hall as saying.
