Dial Complete Class Action Lawsuit Alleges False Claims
Date Published: Thursday, May 5th, 2011
A class action lawsuit has been n federal court in Cleveland against the Dial Corporation alleging false advertisement. The complaint accuses Dial of marketing the Dial Complete line of antibacterial products in a deceptive manner, and unfairly stating and implying that the soap protects users and prevents contraction of illness and disease.
The lawsuit states that the Dial Complete line of antibacterial soaps include the ingredient triclosan which can be found in many types of personal hygiene and kitchen items.
Product manufacturers often claim that triclosan is safe, but triclosan is a chlorophenol, which has been added to a class of chemicals that the Environmental Protection Agency has registered as pesticides and rated as having high health and environmental risks, and are suspected of causing cancer in humans.
The lawsuit also states that the soap is not superior to ordinary, less costly soaps.
