A 266-page federal lawsuit has been filed by individuals from Texas to Canada against Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, alleging they contracted Legionnaires disease from their hotel room showers between April and July of this year.

The lawsuit names “MGM Resorts International; Dubai World; Infinity World Holding Ltd.; Infinity World (Cayman) LP; Infinity World Cayman Investments Corp.; Infinity World Investments; Mirage Resorts; Project CC; Aria Resort & Casino; Infinity World Development Corp.; CityCenter Holdings; CityCenter Land; Tutor Perini Corp.; Tishman Construction Corp. of Nevada; and Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects inc.,” Court House News reported.

On its website, Aria said that the hotel had been linked to a few reported cases of the disease by guests who had been diagnosed, treated, and had recovered from the illness. The 4,004 room luxury resort also said it “implemented a comprehensive abatement effort” and that all test results show  “no detectible levels of active Legionella,” , the bacteria that causes the disease.

The lawsuit alleges negligence, loss of consortium, and breach of contract, and seeks $1.5 million for each plaintiff for punitive and compensatory damages.
