After Sandusky: Penn State Wants to Settle Lawsuits

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

Penn State Officials have invited victims of Jerry Sandusky to meet with them and discuss potential settlement demands. Penn State President Rodney Erickson told reporters earlier this month that, “Our hope is that we can settle as many of those that arise without taking the victims through the litigation process.”

Penn State administrators said, “The purpose of the program is simple – the university wants to provide a forum where the university can privately, expeditiously and fairly address the victims’ concerns and compensate them for claims relating to the university.”

“We don’t know what the number is likely to be. We don’t know when they’ll be filed, but we’ve said all along we want to do the right thing for the victims,” the Tribune Review reported Erickson as saying.

The Inquisitor reports that some experts have said they belief the university could pay each victim $1 million or more for failing to deal with Jerry Sandusky years before the sexual abuse became public knowledge. disclaimer: This article: After Sandusky: Penn State Wants to Settle Lawsuits was posted on Tuesday, June 26th, 2012 at 9:45 pm at and is filed under Personal Injury Lawsuits.
