Over the past week, the national law firm of Parker Waichman LLP has filed a total of nine new lawsuits in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New York, on behalf of individuals who suffered life-threatening bleeding events linked to the use of the blood thinner Plavix.
According to the lawsuits, the plaintiffs have suffered serious Plavix side effects including gastrointestinal hemorrhage, cerebral hemorrhage and a blood condition called thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. The plaintiffs also allege that Plavix users are at a greatly increased risks of stroke, heart attack, and death.
The lawsuits claim that Bristol-Myers Squibb and Sanofi-Aventis negligently and fraudulently represented that Plavix was safe and effective, and that the drug makers concealed their knowledge of the defects of the drug from the FDA, consumers, and the medical community.
Each lawsuit says that use of Plavix caused permanent and lasting severe personal injuries, physical pain and mental anguish, including diminished enjoyment of life, as well as the need for lifelong medical treatment, monitoring and/or medications, and fear of developing other health consequences.
