$5 million Lawsuit Filed Over Brazilian Blowout

Dana Lulgiuraj, a hairdresser in New York City has filed a lawsuit against Brazilian Blowout manufacturer GIB LLC of North Hollywood, California alleging the hair straightening serum has caused her physical injury.

The lawsuit comes after medical studies showed Brazilian Blowout to be a health hazard, containing varying levels of formaldehyde. Also, a class action lawsuit has been filed by 225 Brazilian Blowout users, alleging the products causing headaches, allergic reactions, asthma, depression, insomnia, eye irritation, chest pain and dermatitis.

The California attorney general has also filed a lawsuit alleging the product contains high levels of formaldehyde, even though company advertisements and its website says it doesn’t.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA)  is currently investigation the product and its ingredients.
